Tyddyn Bach ~ Amenities

Tyddyn Bach is ideally situated in a quiet rural location for those who enjoy both countryside and coast, for families, bird watchers, walkers and cyclists, whilst fishermen can go out in local boats from Aberdyfi, fish from the shore or hire rowing boats at Tal y Llyn.

The village shop in Bryncrug offers newspapers and groceries and in Tywyn, 3 miles away, 2 supermarkets and a variety of shops can be found, together  with a Leisure Centre, putting green and 4 miles of sandy beach to Aberdyfi. A market is held every Monday in summer.

The designated cycle track on which Tyddyn Bach stands can be enjoyed by cyclists, walkers and by car as can Ffordd Du, the Old Drovers' Road to Dolgellau.

The Tal y Llyn Railway, one of the great little trains of Wales, will take you through beautiful scenery to Dolgoch Falls, where you can walk by waterfalls, and to the old quarry village of Abergynolwyn for walks through the forests. For the more active, there are footpaths up Craig y Deryn (Bird Rock), the inland nesting place of cormorants, and Cader Idris, one of the highest peaks in Wales, both of which can be seen from the garden.

A visit to the historic port of Aberdyfi, with its harbour, jetty, boats, sands, old cottages, pubs and coffee shops is always worthwhile and for walkers a stroll through the village to Bearded Lake and Echo Stone in the hills. There is also a Golf Course, Putting Green, and Bowling Green.

A stroll around nearby Dolgellau, with 2 supermarkets, Leisure Centre, pubs for bar snacks and shops, is always worthwhile.

Quiet beaches can be found at Fairbourne, with its little train and ferry service to Barmouth.

At Machynlleth, there is a street market every Wednesday throughout the year, a Leisure Centre, park, and a variety of shops, cafes, and pubs for lunches. The Centre for Alternative Technology, and the Craft Centre and King Arthur's Labyrinth at Corris, an old slate mining village, can also be visited.

Families will enjoy a visit to Harlech Castle, and Castell y Bere (an ancient castle) is 5 minutes drive distant.
